HURRICANES KATRINA AND RITA RELIEF:

We were able to identify a location in Mississippi where we worked in partnership with ten other Calvary Chapels to develop work teams and resources.

Our destination was Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi, a town devastated by a 40 -foot tidal surge. Although not completely underwater, for the most part, it still it looked like a nuclear bomb went off.

We worked  with the community, churches and West Coast Calvary Chapels,  forming teams that left once a month in November, December,2005 and January and February, 2006, to  be a part of the work force and outreach teams.

All who went agree that it was life changing experience, and that it will be along time before the work is done.

The team goals were as follows:

• To staff a field kitchen that will feed fire, police and rescue workers and the church teams who are there to serve.

• To form daily work crews that will be clearing debris, cleaning up residences, focusing first on the police, fire, government and infrastructure personnel in the area.

 • Conduct weekend outreaches in the park as the residents return to the area.

Donations to the relief fund will contiue to be accepted at Maranatha Chapel,  and  will be directed to this focused effort in Mississippi.
Please continue to pray!  This is a long term commitment, and we ae asking the Lord to give everyone who is called to this effort the desire and strength to see it through.
