Alejandro Alonso
, originally from Querétaro, Mexico, is a pioneer in Spanish Christian contemporary music. At the age of 19 a personal encounter with Jesus Christ rescued him from a life caught up in oriental philosophies and drug addiction, which is common among musicians. A friend left a Bible in Alejandro's house and he became a believer simply by reading the Living Word. He fell in love with God as he discovered His merciful and loving character. As a result, Alejandro has dedicated himself to the study of God's Word and to composing and recording music that communicates this love to believers and non-believers alike.

Almost immediately Alejandro began to do evangelistic concerts at different universities, colleges and high schools in Mexico, using music as a tool against the humanistic messages of atheism, evolution, etc., while also providing the answer for man's dilemmas through the message of the gospel.

In 1980 he moved to California, U.S.A. where he participated as a soloist in a series of productions by Maranatha Music entitled "Quiero Alabarte" (I Want to Praise You). With Maranatha Music he also recorded his first solo album "Cantico de Libertad" (A Song of Freedom). Together these productions opened new horizons in Spanish Christian music. Many of today's Spanish worship leaders recognize that this music has influenced and inspired them in their call to the music ministry. Alejandro worked on and produced various other music projects in English and Spanish. During this time he also dedicated himself to the teaching of the Word. In 1990 he recorded "Alguien" (Someone) which was composed with the intent of reaching the unsaved. After that he recorded three worship and praise albums. His most recent production is titled "De Regreso a Casa" (Coming Home). The words and music lead its audience into an intimate experience with God. It also is useful as an evangelistic tool.

Alejandro's heart's desire regarding the music ministry, is to present himself as a useful instrument for the Lord. He believes in the indisputable need for personal consecration and the study of God's Word. He constantly strives for excellency in the art of music "to the praise of the glory of God" (Ephesians 1:12). Alejandro Alonso worked as a missionary in Santiago, Chile. He is the founder of "Centro Familiar Cristiano" (Family Christian Center), where he was the senior pastor/teacher. He is presently director of
Poiema Records and He often travels giving evangelistic concerts, participating in conferences ministering the Word and leading the body of Christ in worship.
