EXTREME MAKEOVER

Rosey Grier, the former NFL All-Pro defensive lineman with the New York Giants and L.A. Rams, and Pastor Estean Lenyoun of Maranatha Chapel decided changes must be made for those without much opportunity. Together they co-founded Impact Urban America, which combines business and ministry in a way that provides jobs and life skills for individuals while creating economic development in depressed areas.

One of the msot successful and rewading projects of late is the EXTREME MAKEOVER--Church Edition.  Estean and Impact Urban America traditionally sponsor some kind of Christmas outreach.  This year Estean decided to try something new.  "We are going to beautify the urban sanctuary," he declared.  The church:  St. Stephen's Church of God in Christ, pastored by George McKinney, who  has tirelessly served the Lord for 55 years and has made a tremendous impact on the inner city.

The efforts of more than 400 volunteers from Maranatha Chapel, Impact Urban America, and St. Stephenƒ_Ts Cathedral resulted in a much-needed makeover for the urban church just in time for the holidays. ƒ_oWe had been praying for a miracle,ƒ__ said Bishop McKinney.  ƒ_oBut this extreme makeover was beyond our expectations. It has generated a new excitement and enthusiasm in our congregation.ƒ__

Estean has also been involved in the Lead Like Jesus seminars co-hosted by Ken Blanchard.
