Project Compassion
We are privileged to be able to link up with Project Compassion
for special projects, especially medical missions. Project
Compassion is a Christ centered organization whose primary purpose is
to share God's love by ministering to the physical and spiritual of all
people through outreaches. Project Compassion operates by responding to
the invitation of those working in developing nations directly with the
people that are most in need of our services. Through a network of
dedicated individuals, we are able to go directly to the point of need
and provide a proven and valuable service.
John Eastham, a local pharmacist, married with three children,
graciously serves as our Project Compassion Maranatha
Representative. He can be contacted at: john_eastham@yahoo or 760-580-0049.

Recent and Upcoming Projects:
Tsunami Medical Relief Team
While we have several things planned in advance on the calendar
(below), we are ready to move quickly when an emergency arises, such as
the recent tsunami devastation. In January of 2005 Project Compassion
quickly put together a team of 61 volunteers, including eight from
Maranatha Chapel. The team traveled to two coastal villages in
India, Ullapalem and Pakala where they conducted three 16 hour clinic
days, treating some 3000 people, mostly fishermen who lost family
members and their homes.
The team members from Maranatha Chapel included: Dawn
Elders, Larry Elders, Michele Fujioka, Sarah Gordon, Nina Jensen, Matt
Marascuillo, Ruth Getz, and Brian Bronson. Carol La Beau of
Channel 10 news also accompanied the team, providing local news
coverage.
Future Maranatha Chapel/Project Compassion events for 2005:
Vincente Guerrero. Baja California, Mexico June 23 - 28
Malawi July 29 - August 14 (still not a confirmed trip)
Cambodia, November 9 - 20 (country confirmed, but dates may change)
