Local Outreach

  • Join us as we take steps of faith and follow Jesus’ example and the commandment to take the Word out into the streets. We want to get to know the people of the community and establish a relationship with them. Our mission is to share God’s love and compassion for those who are hurting and in need. This outreach is a perfect opportunity to do missions right in our community. Everyone is welcome singles, couples, and entire families.

  • Samaritan’s Purse has followed Christ’s spoken word and millions of children each year are coming to Christ through Operation Christmas Child and the Great Journey Discipleship Program. Since 1993 over 168 million children have received the gift-filled gospel opportunity shoe box. These young believers are sharing their faith and the gospel to their families and communities.

Please email Betsy at OCCBetsy@gmail.com with any questions.

  • For more than 50 years it has been more than our purpose – it has been our privilege — to help San Diego’s homeless and poor populations create better lives for themselves and, in turn, build a better community for us all. Meeting basic needs, then going further. They help our clients address the challenges behind their homelessness for positive, lasting change.

  • 7 years ago, GMO asked, “What if we put the gospel online? Would people care?” Since then, over 50 million people have not only cared—they’ve believed. 50 million out of 6 billion just scratches the surface. Will you help reach the rest? The world is searching online. Global Media Outreach, a non-profit Christian organization, helps people find Jesus.

  • Are you interested in learning about Arabic culture and the faith of Islam? Open The Gates offers a course called Understanding Islam. The purpose of this course is to furnish a non-Muslim audience with an understanding of the Islamic faith, its history, culture, and impact on civilization. Equipped with this knowledge, the goal is to develop a heart for the Muslim community and encourage cross-cultural interactions with friends, neighbors and coworkers associated with the Islamic religion.

  • The SonShine Society is an inter-denominational organization for the purpose of challenging local churches and individual Christians to provide a consistent and effective Christian witness to people who, due to age or physical impairment, are unable to participate in the worship and instructional services of the Christian church. The setting is usually a Nursing Home, Care Center or other long-term medical care facility.

ReachOut Jail & Prison ministry is an opportunity for volunteers to bring encouragement, hope and the good news to those who are incarcerated. This ministry is comprised of the PenPal Ministry and Jail Ministry. If you would like to learn more, please contact outreach@maranathachapel.org

Inmate Pen Pals Ministry

This ministry creates a safe and anonymous way to encourage and minister to those in the prison. The focus of this ministry is to bring hope via letters to the inmates in prison.  Through ReachOut PenPal Ministry you have the opportunity to do mission work right from your home & bring hope to a captive audience that is willing to hear from the outside world and who are ready to hear about a savior that can give them hope.  Many of them have not heard from their family & loved ones in a very long time.  All correspondence is done through the church.  Your name and address is kept anonymous from the inmates to protect you.

If you would like to learn more about this ministry, please contact Lynne Cook at lynne.cook@maranathachapel.org.

Jail Ministry

Our Jail Ministry provides the opportunity to reach out to men and women in crisis due to their recent arrest and incarceration as they await sentencing. At this low point in their lives, jail inmates are ripe for the message of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness and the offer of salvation and eternal hope available through Christ.

This is a team of men and women where 2 or 3 members visit the Vista Detention Facility every week to provide worship and a Bible study to those men or women who choose to attend.

Be on the front lines of reaching the broken. “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38).

If it is the desire of your heart to be sent out into this local mission field at the Vista County Jail, please consider joining the Jail Ministry. For more information please contact the front office at (858) 613-7800 or email Nick Aneshansley at Nick1945@gmail.com.
